Health Networks

Health Networks enables all Western Australians to connect, share and improve our health services.

With a focus on a patient-centred approach to health care, Health Networks brings together consumers, clinicians, policy makers and allied health professionals, to improve best practice, develop strategic partnerships, and provide leadership and engagement in the sector.

Our core functions are:

  • Partnering with consumers and community
  • Systemwide cross sector engagement
  • Statewide policy

Health Networks is made up of 11 Networks which have led the development of 58 Models of Care and nine Frameworks, providing outlines for gold standard practice in a variety of health areas.

Each Health Network is overseen by a Network 'Lead' or 'Co-Leads', who are experts in their field. They are supported by Executive Advisory Groups to help guide the valuable work each Health Network undertakes. See all our Leads Profiles here.

We connect with consumers and carers

Consumers and carers play an important role in shaping our health services. Health Networks recognise this and actively encourage consumers and carers to be involved in every Health Network project.

We connect with individuals, peak bodies Health Consumers Council (external site) and Carers WA (external site), and consumer and carer advocacy groups to ensure an active consumer and carer voice in the work we do, and to help guide the direction of our Health Networks. With this input we are able to provide holistic and practical advice to the health system which consistently places the individual and their support network at the centre of change and service improvement.

Consumers and carers have been integral to the development of many of our key projects including the Youth Health Policy, WA Disability Health Framework 2015 - 2025, WA Framework for Persistent Pain 2016-2021, Models of Care, and many more.

If you are interested in becoming a consumer or carer representative, please contact us on 9200 0200 or via email: healthpolicy@health.wa.gov.au.

Health Networks Supports Programs

Health Networks provides funding for a number of ongoing programs as well as pilot programs to support continual improvement in health care across WA. Our programs are evidence based and cover a wide variety of areas.

Health Networks supports evidence based pilot programs to provide the opportunity to assess innovative service delivery models before they are taken up by Health Service Providers for roll out across WA. All of the ongoing Health Networks programs began as highly successful pilot programs.

See our Health Networks Supported Programs page for more information on the programs we are currently funding.
