Telehealth

The telehealth service increases communication and access to health supports across Western Australia.

How does telehealth work?

We use videoconferencing equipment. The setup includes a television screen and microphone for each location. The videoconference equipment broadcasts live audio and visual images from each location. The equipment is easy to use and assistance will be provided during the booking.

Different types of telehealth

Clinical consultations

Clinical consultations using videoconferencing equipment can be conducted between two or more sites at a variety of locations across the state. This reduces travel time for patients from rural areas.

Education or training sessions

Health care professionals across Western Australia can access educational and training sessions held regularly throughout the year.

Multidisciplinary team meetings

Clinicians participating in multidisciplinary team meetings can present patient care plans to a larger peer group, as both rural and metropolitan consultants are in attendance.

Family virtual visits

We link patients receiving treatment in a Perth hospital to family located in rural areas. This assists family and friends to continue supporting the patient.

Non clinical use

Includes interviews, court appearances, planning meetings, conferences, working group discussions and team meetings.
