Telehealth – information for consumers
The telehealth service increases communication and access to health supports across Western Australia.
How does telehealth work?
We use videoconferencing equipment. The setup includes a television screen and microphone for each location. The videoconference equipment broadcasts live audio and visual images from each location. The equipment is easy to use and assistance will be provided during the booking.
Different types of telehealth
Clinical consultations
You can see a doctor or specialist using videoconferencing equipment. This can be conducted between two or more sites at a variety of locations across the state, reducing travel time for patients from rural areas.
Family virtual visits
We link patients receiving treatment in a Perth hospital to family located in rural areas. This assists family and friends to continue supporting the patient.
