Delivering a Healthy WA

Infections and Immunology Health Network

Who we are

» Background to the network

The Network Co-Leads are Dr James Flexman and Dr Lewis Marshall.

Executive Advisory Group (EAG)

The Network’s Executive Advisory Group governs the Network and advises on the delivery of patient-centred, sustainable and effective clinical services across all continuums of care. They bring together time limited project groups to focus on particular priorities.

» Executive Advisory Group members

We have three permanent subgroups which ensure that a two-way liaison between their members and the Network’s Executive Advisory Group (EAG). They convene their own meetings to address priority areas for infections and immunology.

WA Infectious Disease Physicians Group

Chair:  Dr John Dyer
This is an inclusive group of all Infectious Disease (ID) physicians in Western Australia. The 14 members have diverse roles extending from paediatrics, adults and private and public sector institutions. The Group, formed through the consultative process of engagement by the Infections & Immunology Health Network, now represents the ID physician voice in WA.

Non-Government Organisations Subgroup

Chair:  Ms Trish Langdon
This group comprises non-government organisations (NGOs) within the brief of the Infections & Immunology Health Network:  fpwa (Family Planning WA), Hepatitis Council of WA, secca (Sexuality Education Counselling & Consultant Agency), Silver Chain, WA AIDS Council and WASUA (WA Substance Users Association).

Nurses Subgroup

Chair:  Ms Crystal Connelly
The Infections & Immunology Health Network held a forum for nurses and asked the 40+ participants how best to represent their discipline on the Executive Advisory Group. They chose an Expression of Interest process to nominate their representative, and formed a subgroup with committee membership that reflected the diverse nursing roles and locations. It includes Infection Control, Sexual Health, Clinical Trials, Hepatology, WA Country Health Service, General Practice and Communicable Disease Control.
