WA Primary Health Care Strategy moves ahead
Following an extensive consultation process in 2011, the WA Primary Health Care Strategy (PDF) is now available to guide the implementation of primary health reform in Western Australia.
This document outlines a strategy for reform in primary health care which will establish a person-centred system to improve health outcomes of Western Australians. The WA Primary Health Care Strategy provides an opportunity for primary health care to ‘come of age’ as an equal partner with care provided in the hospital system, in an environment of mutual respect and trust.
With the establishment of eight new Medicare Locals in Western Australia, it is now time to move the WA Primary Health Care Strategy into the implementation phase. To facilitate this, the Primary Care Network will be holding a Forum in early 2012, followed by the formation of a number of working groups tasked with development of detailed implementation plans.
