Dr Steve Patchett
Dr Steve Patchett, former Acting Director of the Western Australian State Forensic Mental Health Service, was appointed as the Executive Director for Western Australian (WA) Mental Health in April 2007.
Dr Patchett graduated from Otago Medical School in New Zealand, and underwent post-graduate training in psychiatry in Perth from 1980 to 1985. He worked full time in public mental health services in both inpatient and community settings.
In 1994, he moved to forensic mental health initially in Christchurch, New Zealand and then from 1997 in the Forensic Mental Health Service, acting in the capacity of Director from 2002.
Dr Patchett is married with five children. When he was younger, he enjoyed middle distance running and playing rugby. He now enjoys golf, fishing, mountain biking and listening to his eclectic CD collection.
