Delivering a Healthy WA

Respiratory Health Network

Smoking prevention and cessation

The aims of the resource development and implementation working group are to:

  • identify current resources and programs and any gaps
  • improve the coordination and integration of programs statewide
  • improve the consistency and delivery of prevention messages and resources statewide
  • deliver best practice or innovative programs across the spectrum of prevention and improve access to services for all smokers
  • deliver targeted programs for at risk populations including Aboriginal communities, most disadvantaged groups and mental health services

It is proposed a small executive group be established with specialist sub groups to focus on:

  • Aboriginal communities and most disadvantaged groups
  • primary care and community organisations
  • primary and secondary prevention

The working group was formed after the Respiratory Health Network stakeholders symposium (PDF, 425KB) earlier this year.
