Smoking prevention and cessation
The aims of the resource development and implementation working group are to:
- identify current resources and programs and any gaps
- improve the coordination and integration of programs statewide
- improve the consistency and delivery of prevention messages and resources statewide
- deliver best practice or innovative programs across the spectrum of prevention and improve access to services for all smokers
- deliver targeted programs for at risk populations including Aboriginal communities, most disadvantaged groups and mental health services
It is proposed a small executive group be established with specialist sub groups to focus on:
- Aboriginal communities and most disadvantaged groups
- primary care and community organisations
- primary and secondary prevention
The working group was formed after the Respiratory Health Network stakeholders symposium (PDF, 425KB) earlier this year.
